Music
Across Green Oaks, we offer a rich and inclusive music curriculum. We aim to spark a love of learning music, with all that it offers in the way of wellbeing, self-expression, teamwork and truly memorable experiences. We hope that our children will leave primary school with a thorough grounding in music which will allow them to pursue further learning in music or to enjoy it as a lifelong hobby.
At both schools, links are made with topics and seasonal events to ensure that children listen to and perform music across a broad range of genres, historical periods and cultural backgrounds, making connections and building cultural capital. Children are taught in line with the National Curriculum aims for music, focusing on four key musical concepts: performing, composing, notation and listening. The curriculum is enriched through regular workshops such as the Drumming Workshops in Y1, Young Voices in KS2, and Sing from the 'Hart' in KS1.

At Oakwood our children learn to play the recorder in Year 2 and at Greenfields parents are able to book instrument tuition that takes place before and after school.
During your child’s time at Greenfields they will be given the opportunity to book lessons in:
- Keyboard
- Percussion
- Stringed instruments
- Trombone or trumpet
- Wind instruments
Green Oaks also has its own choir that consists of children from Year 2 - 6.
Our choir meets once a week and has the opportunity to perform at local and national events. This includes performances for our local community centre for the elderly, Singing for the Mind and our village Christmas Market.
