Music

Music is an important part of our Green Oaks community.

We are fortunate to have talented musicians amongst our staff and a strong partnership with Hampshire Music Service.

At Oakwood our children learn to play the recorder in Year 2 and at Greenfields parents are able to book instrument tuition that takes place before and after school.

During your child’s time at Greenfields they will be given the opportunity to book lessons in:

  • Keyboard
  • Percussion
  • Stringed instruments
  • Trombone or trumpet
  • Wind instruments

Green Oaks Young Voices

Green Oaks also has its own choir that consists of children from Year 2 - 6.

Our choir meets once a week and has the opportunity to perform at local and national events. This includes performances for our local community centre for the elderly, Singing for the Mind and our village Christmas Market.

Greenfields Orchestra

Our Key Stage 2 children have their own orchestra and any child who plays an instrument is welcome to join.

Our orchestra is led by a qualified musician and meets weekly to practice and enjoy performing as part of a larger ensemble. The Greenfields Orchestra has the opportunity to perform to parents and the wider community.

Music for All!

Every class has dedicated music sessions which will involve singing and using a range of percussion instruments.

Both schools have a dedicated singing assembly that brings the children together to practice songs and raise their voices in harmony together.
