Geography
Our geography curriculum aims to inspire in pupils a curiosity and fascination about the world and its people. We want our children to be equipped with the knowledge about diverse places, people, resources and natural and human environments. Threaded through our Geography curriculum is a rich progression of first-hand fieldwork experiences which are designed to ensure children become curious about their local and wider environment. Combined with our global theme of Environment & Sustainability, we are aim to develop their appreciation and care of the natural world and realise that their actions can have a positive impact.
Fieldwork
At Green Oaks we offer a range of really exciting fieldwork experiences that get the children exploring familiar and new places. As we are located next to the Hartley Wintney common and village centre, this provides the perfect place for the children to investigate real-life questions and we then challenge them to report back the outcomes of their fieldwork to real-life audiences as much as possible. Our school grounds and local area are the best contexts for the majority of our fieldwork experiences but we also ensure children visit unfamiliar places to extend their knowledge and understanding of the wider world.
