Pupil Premium
Pupil Premium is additional funding allocated to schools to support disadvantaged pupils and to close the attainment gap between them and their peers across the country.
Funding is allocated for pupils who are registered as eligible for Free School Meals (FSM) at any point in the last 6 years or are Looked After Children. Schools also receive funding for children who have been looked after continuously for more than six months and children of service personnel. The premium is aimed at addressing the current underlying inequalities between children eligible for free school meals and those that are not by ensuring that funding to tackle disadvantage reaches the pupils who need it most.
Accountability
The government believes that head teachers and school leaders should decide how to use the pupil premium. They are held accountable for the decisions they make.
Use of Pupil Premium at Green Oaks Federation
At Green Oaks Federation, we have high expectations for all our pupils and work hard to ensure that all pupils make good progress across the school and achieve their best. Each pupil’s progress is evaluated at three milestones over the course of the year through Pupil Progress Meetings and additional support is provided for any pupils at risk of not making good progress. Our Pupil Premium Lead and Assistant Headteacher at Greenfields, Mrs Magowan, has particular responsibility for ensuring that there is high-quality provision for children receiving Free School Meals or who are Looked After at both schools. Mrs Magowan meets with the designated Pupil Premium Governor once a term.
The Pupil Premium Lead closely monitors and evaluates the academic progress, attendance and attainment of each Pupil Premium child and the associated groups.
Our Inclusion Leader takes on the role of Designated Teacher for our Looked after and Post looked after children at each school. The Pupil Premium Lead liaises with the Inclusion Leader regarding the provisions and funding in place.
