Green Oaks Strategy for Excellence

Our strategic aim is to build a learning community that achieves excellence for all.

We aim to achieve this through creating a collaborative culture with parents that is driven by high aspirations for all of our children.

Our shared values will define our schools and will be evident throughout our community and in everything that we do.  We will create positive attitudes to learning and behaviour, where our children show resilience, inclusivity and respect.

The Green Oaks strategy for excellence will always be based on research and the self evaluation of the schools.  The impact of our strategy will be continually reviewed by school leaders, Governors and the Local Authority.  We will build on our successes but not be afraid to challenge outcomes, address weakness and expect excellence for all.

Strategic Priorities

2025-2026

We carry out this evaluation using our assessment data, looking at children’s work, observing teaching and learning and talking to pupils, staff and parents.  We also engage with external advisors from Hampshire County Council to support us in this evaluation process.  Through this we are able to build an accurate and robust picture of how well our schools are achieving our strategic aims and ensure all of our children receive the best education possible.

This year we have three main school improvement priorities:
Priority One: Further build a unique and cohesive curriculum that is coherent, ambitious and challenging. Specifically
  • Progression of knowledge in Music, Computing and DT is ambitious and teachers are skilled to lead the learning effectively

  • Attendance is above national average, there is an improving trend for pupils who are eligible for Pupil Premium
  • Children will gain a greater understanding of how to act for a more sustainable future, at both local and global levels

  • End of key stage threshold tasks support accurate EoKS judgements

Priority Two: Improve the quality of teaching and learning through an inclusive curriculum. Specifically:
  • A new Federation approach to handwriting leads to improve standards of presentation and progression

  • High Quality Ordinarily Available Provision (OAP) supports the needs of pupils on SEN Support.
  • Further develop opportunities for oracy practice across the curriculum
  • Interventions are meticulously planned, delivered and reviewed.
Priority Three: Embed the principles of maths mastery across the Federation. Specifically:
    • Build children’s fluency and reasoning together. Procedural fluency and conceptual understanding are developed in tandem because each supports the development of the other.
    • Use of precise mathematical language to communicate their reasoning and thinking effectively
    • Teachers and adults lead back and forth interaction, including questioning, short tasks, explanation, demonstration, and discussion, enabling pupils to think, reason and apply their knowledge to solve problems
