School Uniform

To foster a feeling of community across our Federation and within our schools we ask all children to wear clothing from the following list in the school colours:

  • Dark grey trousers or shorts
  • Dark grey skirt or pinafore dress
  • White shirt or blouse
  • School tie (Not required for Year R)
  • School jumper or cardigan
  • Green and white check or striped summer dress
  • Black school shoes, flat (no heeled shoes or trainers)

The school offers the following uniform that incorporates the Green Oaks Logo through our uniform supplier Brigade http://www.brigade.uk.com [search for Green Oaks Federation]:

  • School jumper
  • School cardigan
  • School tie (Year 1 to 6)
  • PE T-Shirt
  • PE Hoodie
  • Rucksack

We have made every effort to ensure uniform is affordable and not unnecessarily branded as we are aware this can place an unreasonable burden on families.  Please do not hesitate to contact the school if you would like support with purchasing uniform of for more information on high quality second hand uniform options.

Other essentials include:

  • Warm, waterproof coat with hood
  • Sunhat in hot weather

Children will need to bring a coat to school every day as they go outside to play in all but the most extreme weather.

Please make sure all school uniform is clearly labelled to avoid missing items. Any unidentified clothing is placed in Lost Property and families are welcome to come in and look for lost items after school if they wish.

PE Kit

For health and safety reasons all children must wear PE kit for Physical Education activities.

They will need:

  • Black shorts
  • Green Oaks PE T-shirt
  • Green Oaks PE Hoodie
  • Plain black leggings/joggers for outdoor games
  • Trainers

All children are required to wear their PE kit to school on their allocated PE days.

If your child attends an after-school sports club on a non PE day, they will need to bring their kit in a separate bag to change in to at the end of the day.

The majority of uniform, including rucksacks can be bought from our on-line service and information on how to do this is available from the school office.

Very good quality second hand uniform can also be purchased through the Friends of Green Oaks. Please ask at the school office or contact the Friends of Green Oaks for more information.

Jewellery and watches

Children should not wear jewellery to school as this can easily be lost or cause injuries.

If it is necessary for your child to wear earrings please make sure that they are small, plain studs to reduce the risk of injury.  Children will be required to remove earrings themselves or cover with tape for PE lessons.  Similarly, if your child has to wear a medical bracelet please inform the school office and your child’s class teacher. The school cannot accept responsibility for any loss or injuries caused by wearing jewellery to school.

Haircuts and hair accessories

Any hairbands or clips should be simple and in colours that match the school uniform.

Please ensure that haircuts also reflect the community and reputation of the school. We, therefore, discourage hair colouring, shaved patterns, or excessively spiked hair!

The school is fully inclusive and recognises that there may be a need for some pupils to wear head wear or deviate from the agreed school uniform for religious or cultural reasons. We will always seek to work with parents to understand different cultures and religions and to ensure that all of our pupils are welcomed and feel part of our community.

Make up

Make up (including coloured or glittery lip balms) and nail varnish may NOT be worn in school.

Should your child have very chapped lips requiring the need for lip balm, we allow for one plain lip balm to brought in.  This must be named and handed to the class teacher for safe keeping.

Toys and personal belongings

We do not allow children to bring toys or personal belongings to school unless asked to do so by the class teacher as these can be lost, damaged or cause a significant distraction to themselves or others!

Occasionally a child needs a cuddly toy or something familiar during a difficult time. Please make sure that you inform your child’s class teacher if this is the case and they will make sure that there is a safe place to keep it at school.

Mobile Phones

Children are NOT permitted to have mobile phones in school under any circumstances.
