Welcome to Year 6

Curriculum Learning Journey

Welcome to the Year 6 page, full of useful links and information to help you support your child this year.

Homework

We encourage all children to be reading a minimum of 3 times a week at home as part of their regular home learning, at least one of these should be with an adult who can help support with practicing fluency or checking comprehension.

Children will be given weekly spellings through Spelling Shed which are linked to learning in class and your child's class teacher will feedback any common gaps and errors each half term.

In Maths, your child will access a MyMaths account and their class teacher will set homework each week linked to learning in class. Their teacher will monitor your child's participation in class and address any common gaps as part of their teaching.

From January, your child will also be given SATs revision homework which includes written comprehension tasks, grammar revision and a maths booklet, all of which should be completed at home and brought back to school.

Parent workshops

Each year, we run a year 6 parent workshop in January that will help you understand everything you need to know to support your child with their upcoming SATs.
